Over the past year, Facebook has rolled out algorithm updates that have resulted in decreased visibility for business Pages. And in March this year it reached panic stations with some pages reporting a decrease of organic reach of more than 60%.

To compensate, Page managers now need to ramp up paid Facebook spend to ensure that their stories appear in audience feeds. We’re advocates of Facebook paid advertising. In fact it’s a necessity. But it’s not the only trick to skirting that algorithm. Here are our top 4 tips to break through the Facebook algorithm, not your budget.

Share content your audience wants to see

If you post amazing content, chances are people will like and share your posts. Facebook’s algorithm recognizes good content. The more your content is shared and liked; it boosts it in Facebook news feeds of your followers. 

Make it personal

Personal account posts are given preference in news feeds over business page posts. So ask your team to like, share and comment on your business page to increase natural engagement.

The more the merrier

Use the import function on your Facebook Page to import your email list. Facebook will then send an invite to your list to like your page. The more people liking your page, means greater reach.

Read your reports

Use Facebook’s analytics to see which posts perform better. Amend content to reflect audience preferences. Your analytics sheds a ton of light on best times to post to reach the maximum number of followers.

Change your cover

Changing profile and cover photos have previously received great cut through. Your profile pic is usually a brand opportunity, so we don’t recommend changing that as often as your cover photo. Get creative and change your cover pic at least once a month.
