4 Simple Ways to Launch Your Fan Page With a Bang

January 8, 2012 | By | 3 Comments">3 Comments

Want to discover the smartest way to attract fans, generate email leads, and sell products through your fan page?

We’ve got you covered with these 5 simple, copy and paste strategies that’ll make your fan page grow and make you famous.

Do your fan page a favor and dig in to these now…

The First Update

As the saying goes, “Keep it simple, stupid!”. You must keep your update less than 160 characters.

I may be in the middle of reading your 6,000 character update when a little red notification pops up letting me know that my X girlfriend commented on one of my photos. Boom- I am clicking away from your update. So, keep it simple so viewers can read it fast.

Use this update to focus on the consumer with an update like: “Yes or no, do you need [insert what your business does here]”.

Because your fan page is brand new, no one is likely to see this update. This is the perfect time to solicit your 3,000+ “friends” and subscribers on your personal page. Ask them to leave a simple yes or no response on your new fan page.

If that fails, you can always ask your mom to help out or use one of these 8 sure-fire ways to get engagement.

Email Capture

Bankers like assets. Businessmen love assets. Entrepreneurs like assets. Fan page owners like assets too. The #1 asset you can take from your fan page is emails.

Put simply, every email you collect, you own for life. Facebook can’t take it away… and while we love Facebook, its sweet knowing you have the delicious email of a hot lead that you can run home with.

So, how the heck do you capture emails from your page. If you use Aweber, iContact, Constant Contact, GetResponse, or Mailchimp, simply open your list and look for the button to generate an “HTML embed code”. Once you have this code, use the html widget to drop your capture form right on your fan page.

Then, deliver a ton of value through your email list. Give them free content, spur their imaginations with new ideas, and connect them with other industry thought leaders.

Of course, it’s always nice to make money after you’ve built up your relationship.

Here are 7 ways to build an insanely profitable email list with Facebook.

Engagement Buttons

The Staples “That was easy” button was a marketing phenomena for a variety of reasons. The main reason was its usability and availability. To use it, you just had to press and most people could find one of these big red buttons for free.

Give your fan pages a “That was easy” button.

Use a Facebook share button to enable fans who love you to tell their friends all about you. Do the same with a LinkedIn share button if your fan page is more professional focused. Or if you are building content on Google+ as well, be sure to add a Google+ button to your fan page…. as ironic as that is!

Many people don’t realize how easy it is to install these buttons and in turn miss out on a ton of traffic.

If one fan clicks the share button, that turns in to a net reach of 300+ Facebook users because that fan has approximately 300 friends. Check out the network effects here.

(10,000 fans click “share”) X (Each fan has 300 friends) = Reach of 3,000,000!

Sell

You have to make money to create a sustainable business. Many people use Facebook as a “means” to drive users to their website to then check out.

Did you know you can sell right from your fan page and pay nothing to do it? The secret to collecting money on your fan page is here.

Some words of caution to all you go-getters: Don’t sell on your landing tab. It’s important that you build up rapport and relationships with your fans before offering then a product.

A good solution is to put all your products on a separate Facebook tab and only drive users you have relationships with to this page.

Get selling people… and if you need more inspiration, click to watch how to make $73,000 from your fan page.
