Boosting Facebook Posts — Just Don’t Do It

I got this curious message today from Facebook, saying we could get more reach for Fuddruckers by boosting Facebook posts.
They’re promoting the “boost post” button, conveniently located at the bottom of every post on your page.
It takes you to a 3 page guide showing you how it works.
But we know that boosting Facebook posts is not a good idea.
It’s a simple way to drive newsfeed coverage with no effort.
For local service businesses that cater to mass audiences– restaurants, oil change shops, car dealerships, and so forth– boosting works well. You don’t need to target.
But if you have a niche market– B2B, agency, national, e-commerce, or otherwise– you want to target exactly the right audience, even down to a single individual.
Invest the extra time to learn Power Editor for your Facebook ads. Upload your email list to Facebook, target by the car they actually own, make sure the press is seeing your content, optimize to shopping cart conversions, and to the Heyo landing pages you’ve built.
You get way more features and it’s worth the extra effort. You wear many hats in running your business, marketing function, or agency. You can’t afford to waste money and to not hit precisely the audience that will buy your products and services.
You can ask me (dennis@blitzmetrics.com) or the kind folks at Heyo to help you drive traffic to your apps, website, and office.
