How Solo Stove Captured 474 Emails with Heyo

Meet Heyo customer Jeff Jan, owner and president of solostove.com, a company that sells wood-burning camping stoves and accessories. Based in Fort Worth, Texas, Solo Stove was already working with a fan base in the tens of thousands. What Jeff wanted to do was increase email capture through a sweepstakes on the Solo Stove Facebook fan page, in order to improve their email marketing reach.

The Solo Stove giveaway ended up capturing 474 emails, and blew away Jeff’s expectations.

Heyo was super easy to set up! Our audience really took to our first giveaway and we’ve reached our goals in the first day! This type of marketing is very effective for us. We’re hooked!

In order to increase email capture, Jeff needed a contest that would generate interest with his current fans. Jeff created a campaign using the Heyo Sweepstakes template to cover all his bases. He was able to quickly and easily set up a sleek, mobile-friendly contest that had sharing options built in.

Using the drag-and-drop editor, Jeff made the campaign his own with high quality images. The easy set up meant that Jeff didn’t have to design or program the entry form – all he had to do was connect the email entry to an email service, like MailChimp, and presto! he was capturing emails into a ready to use mailing list.

The Solo Stove sweepstakes earned a ton of interest – 1020 unique views – that lead to a 46% conversion rate (474 emails). Jeff didn’t just let those 474 emails sit, either. The solostove.com sweepstakes had a follow up plan.

Maintaining Interest

Contest follow up can help improve engagement and encourage participation in future contests.

The Solo Stove campaign had a simple set up for contest follow-up. They set up an autoresponder that sent out an email to everyone who signed up when the contest was over. The winner received an individual email, while the rest of the entrants received an email like the one below.

What’s so great about this email is the plan for more contests and that little code included at the bottom. Just for signing up and participating, each entrant received a coupon for 10% off their next solo stove purchase.
