Want to save a bit of time? Facebook contains integrated keyboard shortcuts that make it easier for users to navigate through its platform. We’ve given you some tips on how to use them to your advantage.

These Facebook keyboard shortcuts are designed to efficiently open links to Messages, Profile Pages, Friend Requests, and much more.

Now, you can speed up how quickly you update your Timeline, or respond to a friend. However, these keyboard shortcuts are not so widely known to Facebook users. Take a look at our infographic and become a Facebook master.
Note: If your computer does not contain a numerical keyboard (without numbers as the primary characters) and/or you don’t have English set as your primary language, you will have to press ‘Shift’ with each of the keyboard shortcuts containing numbers. Also, the process of using these Facebook keyboard shortcuts is a bit different when using Internet Explorer. Each time you type the required shortcut, release the keys and then press ‘Enter.’ Be sure to check back with Socialbakers for more tips and tricks to help you while you’re surfing Facebook. Between us, our next infographic may have something to do with emoticons. ☺

  1. Except that Mac OS X doesn’t have Ctrl and Alt keys, it has Command and Option (and Control, which is not used as much but may be one of the ones you mean. Command usually = Windows Ctrl, though). So…a little clarification sure would be helpful.

    • Hmmm Nancy – My mac keyboard has both Ctrl + Alt (option) – What device are you running MacOSX on? – Alex

      • I’m running it on a Mac, Alex. Several, in fact, between home and office. And yes, as I already stated, there is a Control key, and there is Option, which lists “alt” as an alternative (note the lower case A). But if you’ve used a Mac for any length of time (which I’m guessing you haven’t?), you know that the Command key is they key used for primary keyboard shortcuts (Command-I for italics in MS Word, for instance), with Option–which is pretty much NEVER called Alt–running a fair bit behind, and Control coming up very rarely. In addition, you never see Control and Option abbreviated as Ctrl and Alt. I question this chart for that very reason–that, and the fact that the chart looks very much like something someone cribbed from a PC without testing it on a Mac first.

So again, I have to say: a little clarification sure would be helpful, because right now, I just don’t trust this graphic.

        • Gotcha, Nancy – thank you for pointing this out to us! Now that I think about it, Mac’s have always referred to the button as ‘Control’ rather than CTRL. My hunch is that the creator of the infographic, SocialBakers, found it easier to create just one button that they could easily duplicate. Nice catch – wish I would have noticed before I posted :) Alex

          • Yeah, it would be nice to know if they really mean the Control key, or if they got mixed up and mean Command instead. Gut instinct says they mean Command-Option, but it’s hard to tell from what they’ve presented here.
